DREAMS DO COME TRUE

Overcoming fear can be a great achievement for some people, while for others embracing fear can be a paralyzing experience. Fear often keeps people from doing their best because they are afraid to come out of their comfort zone. Many people are like turtles that hide in their shells. How long will they hide? What are they hiding from? And why are they hiding? They may be able to run and hide from others but they cannot run from themselves.
Some dreams are put on hold and many dreams are taken to the grave. Will that be you? What is your dream? What are you willing to do about it? What will motivate you? When will you face your fears? Sometimes dreams can be costly. How much are you willing to sacrifice to make your dream come true? I believe if God gives you a vision, then he will also make provisions for you to succeed. The only thing you need to do is trust him.
I am a true believer of the phrase, “if you build it, they will come.” For years I wanted to be an author but having a full time job, being a wife and mother, and being active in the church took up a lot of my time and it seemed like too much work. I made an attempt to write but I didn’t have the resources or the energy that I needed to complete my writings. However, that did not stop God from keeping the dream inside my heart. It was not until ten years later that God stirred up that dream again. In faith, as I began seriously writing, the windows of heaven opened up and gave me all of the tools I needed to help make this venture a successful one.
For many years I suffered with a sleep disorder. My mother called it, The Witch that rides you,” others may know it as “The Old Hag.” As far as I was concerned, it did not matter what it was called as long as it didn't continue happening.
Sleep paralysis is scary, the symptoms are paralyzing. Waking up and not being able to move can make one want to panic. Not being able to move or scream has to be one of the most frightening things a person can experience. Victims of this condition feel helpless during each attack. Although medical doctors say that sleep paralysis is not fatal, who is to say what fear will do? Isn’t it a fact that fear can raise the heart level? At times I was scared to death !
Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead
Enough of “The Witch” that rides you, enough of “The Witch” that holds you down! Haven’t you had enough of “The Old Hag?” Do not let these creatures of folklore rob you of your sleep.
Ding Dong “The Witch is dead!” Cheer up when you get out of bed.
My vision is to show others that they are not alone and to help lead them to a better understanding of this disorder. What may be considered a curse or a folklore tale could be a controllable, curable sleep disorder.
Although I no longer suffer with it…..does not mean that the battle is over.
My dream is to help others overcome their fears and bring them hope, by reaching out and telling them my story of victory over this paralyzing sleep disorder.
In my book, “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep,” shows a different angle of a dream coming true by taking you on a journey of how my sleep paralysis began and how I overcame it. More importantly, it is full of meaningful, nostalgic and delightful surprises that are guaranteed to take you back down your own memory lane and bring up things that haven’t come to mind in a long time.
The main character, Mona Fay Cartman, will have many readers wanting to follow a few dreams of their own. Whatever your dream may be, don't be afraid. Although at times, dreams can be very scary…. Sometimes "the only thing to fear is fear itself".
Until next time…, “Sweet Dreams.”
